How the revenge and the obsession of Ahab, and Frankenstein is the same take in mind that I am going to use this paper for a presentation, and that has to convince the reader that both are the same. You have to do a normal essay (introduction, 3 body paragraphs, and the conclusion) where you have to get three main points on why your thesis is true, each point for each paragraph. You can use as sources quotes from the two books. comparison and contrast essay that examines the ethical issues and moral problems addressed in Frankenstein and Moby-Dick. Both novels raise a number of interesting quandaries for the reader. Some overarching themes you may wish to consider: atheism v. theism; madness v. reason; nature v. nurture; good v. evil; monstrosity v. normality; cruelty v. kindness; metaphysics v. physics; heroism v. anti-heroism; justice v. revenge; romance v. realism; racial v. gender relations; any biblical allusions or references to other religious traditions; monomania; obsession; desire; narrative devices; similarities or differences in plot; and so on and so forth. The list is not meant to be exhaustive, nor do you need to consider these terms as oppositions (i.e., ignore the “versus” between the paired terms if you wish). Keep in mind that the title of our course is “Ethics in the Novel,” so your paper, while it may veer from this general topic, should try to address the moral or ethical dimensions of the two novels. Ethics, once again, comes from the Greek word for hearth, which is the common root for both “ethics” and “economy.” In Moby-Dick, these twin terms are often contrasted one against the other, as if ethics trumps economy, or economy subsumes ethics (i.e., there is no such thing as ethics at all). What do you think? How do you decide?
